Big Ten Power Rankings Week 8: Purdue and Maryland Rise, Northwestern Falls
Saturday Blitz Big Ten Power Rankings Week 8
Without moving a spot, we managed to move a bunch of teams around Michigan as they didn’t play a game this past weekend. But all the problems are still there. Brady Hoke is still coaching, everybody rightfully wants him fired, fans are rightfully upset that he hasn’t been fired, and the anger has now turned to the athletic department. Pretty much, there’s enough turmoil that makes it remarkable for Michigan not to be lower on the list.
Add to this the fact that the Wolverines can’t find any consistency at quarterback, with Devin Gardner playing decent one week and pathetic the next week, along with the terrible running game and wildly inconsistent defense, and the turmoil is also on the field. It’s why this team has looked so awful.
And with a road game against Michigan State up next, things don’t look like they’re getting much better. But after that, Indiana, Northwestern, and Maryland at home are all winnable games that could at least get this team bowling. That’s a hard sell, though, and running the table against all three teams looks like it could be extremely difficult.
Even if they do reach 6 wins, it might not be enough for Hoke to keep his job. But we don’t have enough faith in them to reach 6 right now.
