Saturday Blitz Vegas Prediction:
Texas Longhorns
This game is such a Big 12 toss-up that there isn’t even a line for it. We understand that. After all, both teams are 3-5 and desperately trying to stay in the hunt for a bowl game, and the loser of this game is pretty much out. That means, to us, Texas Tech is done.
Charlie Strong’s Texas Longhorns have slowly shown improvement throughout the year, while the Red Raiders have shown nothing. Yes, the Longhorns took a step back with a shutout loss to Kansas State last week, but that’s going to happen with this team given how young and thin it is.
Tyrone Swoopes is slowly improving at the quarterback position, and imagine what he can do against that pathetic Texas Tech defense. The Longhorns may not score 80 points, but Swoopes is capable of putting up another 300-yard passing game and possibly a 100-yard rushing game.
With an improving offense that just hit a bad bump in the road last week, Texas’s defense, which has beed pretty good all year, should be able to get enough stops against the Kliff Kingsbury air raid offense that simply hasn’t put up air raid numbers this year. The combination of those two things should be able to allow for a Longhorns victory on the road.
And that should be just enough to keep their postseason hopes alive.
Texas: 45 Texas Tech: 33
