Last Game: 6 Carries for 1 Yard (Defeated Purdue Boilermakers 35-14)

2014 Season: 186 Carries for 1,250 Yards, 13 Receptions for 169 Yards, 19 Total TD’s

He may have gotten injured on Saturday, and we confess that this placement hinges on the assumption that he’ll be healthy going forward, but to this point Ameer Abdullah is the reason that Nebraska is in the running for the Big Ten championship and has an outside shot at the College Football Playoff. We’re not going to let one injury game knock him off the list.

Abdullah still has four 200-yard games on the year and another game when he picked up 96 receiving yards. He has saved Tommy Armstrong, Jr. from himself when it comes to throwing the ball, and his abilities have allowed Bo Pelini to install a new option-style offense to Nebraska to bring them back to traditional Cornhusker football.

So doing that and putting Nebraska in contention to win it all is enough for him to be in the Heisman race. And he is definitely above Melvin Gordon and Tevin Coleman right now by our estimation, even though the other two are amazing. But we still need to see more to put him in the Top 5.
