USC Trojans 6-3 (5-2)

Last week: Idle
Last rank: 4

Steve Sarkisian’s USC Trojans could easily be undefeated right now, losing one game through an inability to stop the run, another thanks to a fluke Hail Mary, and another by giving up a last-second drive at the end of the game.

Unfortunately, all three losses have knocked this team out of any sort of playoff contention, but it’s technically in the Pac-12 championship conversation and still has great wins against Arizona and Stanford. Cody Kessler is a great quarterback, Javorius Allen is a great running back, and USC has a pretty good defense when it plays consistently. But the consistency has been the problem all year. Maybe it can be corrected going forward because the future looks bright for this program.

With Cal, UCLA, and Notre Dame all coming up, the Trojans have a great chance to salvage the season and go out with a bang. But it’s also a great risk of falling to 6-6 or 7-5 again. November will tell us a lot more about this football team.
