California Golden Bears 5-4 (3-4)
Last week: Idle
Last rank: 9

The California Golden Bears fan base can safely say that this team is heading in the right direction and much better than it was last year. That’s obvious. After not playing this past week, now begins the three-game stretch to reach a bowl game.
This team is a middle of the pack Pac-12 team to the core. Like many of the others, it is all passing, no defense and no running game. But the defense is much better than the others, and quarterback Jared Goff has been absolutely dominant. That is what has gotten this team to 5-4 and in position to do even better things as time goes one in this offensive-minded pass-heavy system.
Now, with USC, Stanford, and BYU up to close out the season, a bowl game is not guaranteed. But those are all winnable games, and the Golden Bears could reach 8-4. But they could also be 6-6.
