South Carolina Gamecocks 5-5 (3-5)

Last week: 9-4 record
Last rank: 4th

With all the disappointment and all the frustration that has gone on this season in Columbia after such high expectations to start the year, the Gamecocks got back on track after the bye week. And a thrilling comeback overtime victory for Steve Spurrier’s group was the result, letting out a season full of frustrations. But we still can’t put this team much higher than here.

The offense still sputtered throughout the game, and although the defense looked much better, it was going against Florida’s offense. So there’s not too much to read into that. We have learned what we are going to get from a Dylan Thompson-led offense, and the defense could look good one week and fall apart the next week as it is still adjusting to a 3-4 scheme. So there are still plenty of concerns about this football team, and going forward, we’re going to find out a lot more about them as they close out the season.

Obviously, the Florida win at least probably secured a bowl game for the Gamecocks with South Alabama up next to get this team to 6 wins. The question is whether or not they can get to 7 with a huge game against Clemson to close out the season. With everything that’s happen, that’s how these guys can salvage the season.
