And the door is wide open for the Horned Frogs to win out. Texas on the road is going to be extremely tough, but they still have Iowa State on the schedule. Who is going to bet against them there? For TCU, instead of focusing on the playoff, the focus needs to be on Texas, which they have a bye week to prepare for.

In our regular rankings, we’re not going to hold struggling with Kansas against TCU. Our power rankings are a different story. And honestly, we’d have them No. 2 anyway since they still lose the head-to-head to Baylor, who just keeps on winning.

Still, to be fair, the Horned Frogs are a 9-1 team that have a great chance at reaching the College Football Playoff and winning the Big 12 Championship with a little bit of help.

Trevone Boykin has still proven that he is a superstar quarterback and could easily move up the Heisman race if he keeps playing well. The offense as a whole is great, and the special teams showed how good it is. It was a punt return that beat Kansas and a long field goal in the wind that beat West Virginia on the road. Those things make the difference between a good team and a championship team. Unfortunately, this hasn’t been a great defense under Gary Patterson’s watch. But it has been good enough, and it’s good enough for TCU to win out.
