Saturday Blitz Vegas Big Ten Prediction: Michigan State Wins 38-17

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights have impressed everybody by getting to 6 wins under head coach Kyle Flood their first year in the Big Ten, and he deserves to be credited for that along with Quarterback Gary Nova and the rest of the football team.

But they aren’t going to beat Michigan State on the road this weekend.

The Scarlet Knights simply don’t have the horses to compete with Mark Dantonio’s Spartans, and Michigan State proved last week against Maryland how dominant they can be against mid-level Big ten teams. This will be a pretty comfortable victory for the Spartans from the start.

We agree with the oddsmakers on that. Connor Cook will throw for a couple of touchdowns, and Spartans will run for three, and they’ll force a few turnovers, which is something that Rutgers has been prone to in the past.

Michigan State may not be winning any Big Ten or national championship, but it still has a lot to play for. It’s not going to let its spot in the Top 25 and its chances at making one of the New Year’s Six fall apart because of a home loss to Rutgers.
