Brett Hundley, Quarterback, UCLA Bruins (Defeated USC Trojans 38-20)
22-of-31 for 326 Yards and 3 Touchdowns; 1 Rushing Touchdown
In the biggest game of the year with everything on the line, Brett Hundley delivered his best performance. And it was a special one. Hundley got the best of Cody Kessler as the UCLA Bruins beat the USC Trojans in the crosstown Los Angeles area rivalry.
Throwing for more than 300 yards and 3 touchdowns with just 1 interception along with a rushing touchdown was impressive in the Bruins’ 38-20 victory. Now, they are one win away from clinching the Pac-12 South. And that final game is against the Stanford Cardinal.
Hundley not only came through in a huge way. He also came through when things were working against the Bruins and himself. USC intercepted one of Hundley’s passes in the first quarter to go up 7-0. Hundley then responded by throwing for two touchdowns in the first quarter and his third in the second quarter. He didn’t throw an interception the rest of the game.
That kind of mental toughness is something we admire greatly, and it is why we have put him on our list of college football top performers for this week.
