Saturday Blitz Vegas SEC Prediction: Ole Miss Wins 20-17

In the most exciting Egg Bowl that may ever be played, this was the hardest pick to make. We understand what Mississippi State is playing for, and we also understand what happened to Ole Miss last week against Arkansas.

But if you had a gun to your head right now and took your emotions out of it, could you honestly trust Mississippi State to finish the season at 11-1 and beat Ole Miss on the road? We couldn’t.

Despite giving away the game to Alabama and Ole Miss’s loss to Arkansas, the Bulldogs are playing the game in Oxford. That’s the first reason to pick against them. Also, Ole Miss still has a great defense loaded with talent, and many of these guys could force Dak Prescott into turning the ball over the same way Alabama did. That’s another reason to pick them.

Finally, Mississippi State’s defense has still not shown itself to be great, and despite Bo Wallace’s failure as a quarterback, Hugh Freeze will be able to take the pressure off of him as the Rebels move the ball just enough to pull out the victory.

Ole Miss wins a defensive struggle at home, forcing Mississippi State into making too many turnovers to overcome and eliminating them from College Football Playoff contention.
