Saturday Blitz Vegas ACC Prediction: Duke Wins 20-7

The Duke Blue Devils have had a bad two weeks. First they lost to Virginia Tech. Then, they got blown out by North Carolina. Finally, Virginia Tech turned into a terrible loss for them by losing to Wake Forest.

In short, this team doesn’t look that good anymore. David Cutcliffe’s team, to be fair, has always been undermanned talent-wise. They are just extremely well-coached, and that gets you 3 to 5 extra wins a year.

So from that angle, is it possible that Wake Forest could beat Duke in Durham? Yes. But is it likely? No.

Duke still has a very good defense and an efficient offense, and it can’t be ignored just how bad Wake Forests’s offense is. We’ve explained all year why, being that it’s Dave Clawson’s first year as head coach there and that it always takes time for offenses to adjust to his system, but it’s the case, nonetheless.

And Duke will benefit from it on Saturday. Wake got a great conference win to build momentum over this past weekend, but they are going to fall to 3-9 after losing to Duke, who will move to 9-3.
