Dec 5, 2014; Santa Clara, CA, USA; Oregon Ducks quarterback Marcus Mariota (8) smiles after the Pac-12 Championship game against the Arizona Wildcats at Levi

Most Outstanding Quarterback: Marcus Mariota, Oregon Ducks- 254 of 372 for 3,783 Yards and 38 Touchdowns (2 INT); 117 Carries for 669 Yards and 14 Touchdowns

Awards: Davey O’Brien Award

We can talk all day about Marcus Mariota’s system and his supporting cast. The fact of the matter is 52 total touchdowns with only 2 interceptions is impossible to ignore, and when you have more than 4,400 total yards along with putting your team in contention for the national championship, you are clearly the best quarterback of the year.

Mariota is a dual-threat in the best way, and outside of one bad game against Arizona mid-season, he has continually stepped up in big games. He has been the clear-cut best quarterback in all of college football this year.

Other Finalists:

Trevone Boykin, TCU Horned Frogs- 279 of 461 for 3,714 Yards and 30 Touchdowns (7 INT); 142 Carries for 642 Yards and 8 Touchdowns

Trevone Boykin has a strong case simply because of the fact that TCU was terrible last year and jumped to 11-1 this year. As a dual-threat himself, he has been nearly impossible to stop. But Mariota’s numbers are still just too good to overlook for this year, so Boykin has been knocked to the second spot.

Dak Prescott, Mississippi State Bulldogs- 211 of 345 for 2,996 Yards and 24 Touchdowns (10 INT); 195 Carries for 939 Yards and 13 Touchdowns

The leader of the Heisman race for much of the season, Dak Prescott has been incredible for Mississippi State. But he doesn’t have Mariota’s or Boykin’s numbers, and when it comes to team success, his struggles against Alabama and Ole Miss, the two biggest games of the year for the Tide, can’t be ignored.
