Maryland Terrapins vs. Stanford Cardinal

Line: Stanford by 14

Saturday Blitz Vegas Bowl Prediction: Stanford Wins 31-10

Randy Edsall’s Maryland Terrapins got the worst draw possible for a bowl game. True, they brought it on themselves by blowing a huge lead at home to Rutgers in the last game of the season. But who honestly thinks this was a good match-up? The Terps are playing against their kryptonite in terms of style of play and they are playing it in what is essentially a road game. This team has absolutely no chance.

Maryland, in its first year in the Big Ten, made noise as a finesse, speed-oriented spread offense led by an athletic quarterback who unfortunately can’t throw the football. They are also pretty soft on defense up front, so physically dominant teams are the worst match-ups for them. And that is exactly what Stanford is.

David Shaw’s Cardinal will have no trouble moving the ball behind Kevin Hogan at quarterback, given how efficient he is, and Stanford will dominate this game from start to finish. Despite being 7-5, Stanford is a quality team that is much better than the record has indicated. And while they make everybody play their game, the one team that would get blown out playing their game is Maryland. That is exactly what will happen in this bowl game.

The fact that Stanford is playing this game in Northern California is nothing but a bonus.
