North Carolina Tar Heels vs. Rutgers Scarlet Knights

Saturday Blitz Vegas Bowl Prediction: Rutgers Wins 42-27

Kyle Flood and Rutgers showed in the final game of the season against the Maryland Terrapins that they are capable of torching soft defenses up front on the ground. If they did that to Maryland, what do you think they’re going to do against North Carolina, who simply has a soft defense at every level?

The combination of that solid running game along with Gary Nova throwing the ball all over the field should lead to a fairly comfortable Rutgers victory up in Detroit. Oh, and New Jersey is obviously closer to Michigan than North Carolina is, so it is likely that Rutgers should have more of a fan base at the game.

Larry Fedora’s Tar Heels will put up points behind Marquise Williams at quarterback, but it simply won’t be enough to make this much of a game. The bad loss to North Carolina State at the end of the season is one that just does not sit well here at all. The Wolfpack weren’t that good, but UNC managed to make them look great, and that was a flat-out embarrassment.

Rutgers will cruise to a victory to get to 8-5, a very good start their first year in the Big Ten.
