15-of-24 for 274 Yards and 3 Touchdowns

Defeated Pittsburgh Panthers 35-34 in Armed Forces Bowl

The numbers alone may not warrant putting Greg Ward, Jr. this high on the list of top college football bowl game performers. But clutch play and coming through in big moments matter in this ranking as well, and you can’t beat throwing three straight touchdown passes and converting a two-point conversion to win the game when you were down 34-13 with less than four minutes left.

That’s what this Houston Cougars quarterback did. Keep in mind the Cougars were a lame-duck team not yet having their coach, and they led one of the greatest comebacks in college football bowl season history. Ward deserves to be on the list simply for those epic last few minutes.

Remember Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts coming back to beat Tampa Bay on Monday night football in 2003 like that? Well, now Ward has done that.

And he deserves to be high up on this list for that.
