56 Carries for 476 Yards and 6 Touchdowns in Two Games
Defeated Alabama Crimson Tide 42-35 in Sugar Bowl; Defeated Oregon Ducks 42-20 in CFP National Championship
This one took absolutely zero thinking. Yes Cardale Jones was a great story, yes, the defense toughened up, yes, the offensive line is better, and yes, Urban Meyer is a great coach. But Ezekiel Elliott is the reason the Ohio State Buckeyes are national champions, and he is the clear-cut MVP of the postseason for that.
Every time things got tight, Elliott stepped up for a huge run to change the game. He was unstoppable against Oregon, and all the Buckeyes had to do was run it with him every time. But against Alabama, when it was still only a one-touchdown game and we all thought Alabama would eventually turn it on, Elliott broke off a long touchdown run that made the touchdown difference at the end of the game.
Coming through in big moments like that and stepping up in big games in general, as Elliott put up more than 200 yards in both postseason wins is remarkable. Overall it’s three straight 200-yard games when you count the Big Ten Championship game.
Elliott has been the star of this postseason, and for that, he is THE college football top bowl game performer.
