2014 Finish: 5-7

Michigan just finished 5-7, fired its coach, and has a very bleak outlook for next year with no solid recruiting class to speak of. But they are No. 4 on this list for one very obvious reason: Jim Harbaugh.

The excitement generated behind Harbaugh alone will have fans clamoring to get to the stadium next year, even in the Spring to watch practice. Remember Alabama selling out its Spring Game in 2007? That very well might happen in Ann Arbor this time around.

The honeymoon is going to last for at least three years, so expect Michigan’s fan base to be on this list during that time. The fans, as impatient as they are, also understand what Harbaugh is inheriting and the time he needs to recruit and build depth. But it does not change the fact that no fan base is more elated about their coaching situation now than Michigan’s is with Harbaugh.

Alabama and Ohio State might be the only exceptions to that statement.

So even with a 6-6 season the possible best-case scenario for next year, the energy and the vibe of the program is unparalleled.

That’s why Michigan is on this list.
