1. Wisconsin Badgers, Six Players (Four on Roster, Two on Injured Reserve)

Players on New England: Jonathan Casillas (LB), James White (RB)

Players on Seattle: Russell Wilson (QB), O’Brien Schofield (DE), David Gilreath (WR-IR), and Mike Taylor (LB-IR)

For this year, it’s not even close. Far and away, the Wisconsin Badgers are the best represented team in the Super Bowl. It is not just on sheer numbers, although six players in the big game is pretty darn impressive. It’s also the value.

We can start with Russell Wilson. Yeah, the quarterback is always kind of a big deal. One of the two in this game is from Wisconsin, so points automatically go there. It doesn’t hurt that Wilson is turning into a hero in big moments. Could he be a young Tom Brady?

Sticking with Seattle, O’Brien Schofield has been a pretty good defensive lineman, and he’s another contributor. David Gilreath and Mike Taylor are on the injured-reserve list, but they still count in numbers.

And let’s move over to New England. James White has played very sporadically this year, but he is still on the roster. That counts for something. And Jonathan Casillas has had to help step up at linebacker with Jerod Mayo out.

So with six players, four on the roster, three contributors, and one of the players being a quarterback, Wisconsin by far is the best represented football team in the Super Bowl. Congratulations to the Badgers.
