8. California Golden Bears, Three Players (Two on Roster, One on Injured Reserve)

Players on New England: Shane Vereen (RB)

Players on Seattle: Marshawn Lynch (RB), Brandon Mebane (RB-IR)

Having only three players, one on injured reserve, is about the only thing keeping Cal from being higher on this list. But if you just go by percentages of players who are useful, Cal’s got a pretty darn good ratio.

Shane Vereen and Marshawn Lynch are both valuable players to their football teams as regular running backs. And of course, Lynch is a superstar running back on his own.

Beast mode was beast enough to carry his team into the Top 10, and he can thank me in advance for the fact that if I saw him I would ask him how he feels about his alma mater being on this list.

Vereen, however, is nobody worth sleeping on. He has been a solid part of a resurgent New England Patriots running game this year. He’s also pretty valuable as a receiving running back.

And that has turned the Patriots into a complete team.

As a whole, those two running backs were enough to put Cal on this list.
