7. Alabama Crimson Tide, Four Players (Three on Roster, One on Injured Reserve)

Players on New England: Dont’a Hightower (LB)

Players on Seattle: James Carpenter (C), Kevin Norwood (WR), and Jesse Williams (DT-IR)

Very similar to the UCLA Bruins, the Alabama Crimson Tide have only one player that is truly reliable on a consistent basis for either team in this year’s Super Bowl. That player is New England’s Dont’a Hightower, who even had to assume a larger role without Jerod Mayo this year.

And his draft was one of those sure ones everybody knew would work out. But at the same time, Jesse Williams is on the injured-reserve for Seattle. Fortunately, James Carpenter has seen a slight bit of action, and Kevin Norwood had enough touches at the wide receiver position for us to say that having four players in the Super Bowl is legitimate on their part.

The same cannot be said for UCLA. Still, Alabama belongs at the bottom among other teams with four players in the Super Bowl.

It is a typical Nick Saban representation: a bunch of players with NFL careers who would never be superstars at the next level.
