4. Georgia Bulldogs
Four Players: Matthew Stafford (QB), A.J. Green (WR), Geno Atkins (DT), Justin Houston (LB)
The Georgia Bulldogs may be similar to Oklahoma and unable to win the big game that matters under Mark Richt, although that is even unfair since Bob Stoops actually won a national championship with the Sooners, but they have always had the talent. And that does not change this year.
The Dawgs have a franchise quarterback in Matthew Stafford in the Pro Bowl, and they have a superstar wide receiver in A.J. Green. When you add a defensive tackle and a linebacker, you literally get somebody from every size and athletic ability required to play in the NFL outside of a strong leg.
That is pretty darn impressive.
Although all of the players in this year’s Pro Bowl were drafted over a three-year period, the diversity of the positions along with the sheer quantity is enough to put them here. In fact, what is really shocking is why the 2009 team was one of Richt’s worst of his career. 2008, with Stafford, was just a classic underachieving Georgia team.
The Dawgs still get to be one of the elite teams with players in the Pro Bowl. But now, the real fun begins.
