Coaches Who Could Eventually Make the List

Nick Saban

We are obviously getting close. Nick Saban has four national championships, four SEC championships, and a legacy that towers over almost everybody else in college football right now.

But he’s still got more work to do to be the best coach at his own school right now, let alone the best in college football.

Urban Meyer

Similar to Saban, Meyer’s success is pretty remarkable, and these two guys have done it at multiple schools. With three national championships, Meyer has got a lot of coaching left in him.

But like Saban, Meyer still has to work to be the best coach in Ohio State history, and it’s debatable if he’s even the best coach in Florida history.

John Calipari

With only one national championship, this is a bit of a stretch. But John Calipari has plenty of years left in him, and if he keeps recruiting the way he does every year at Kentucky, what will we say if he wins four more national championships?

That is indeed very possible, and despite all the scandals, we’ll then have to put him in the Coach K conversation.

Roy Williams

Coming from the Dean Smith coaching tree, Roy Williams already has as many national championships at North Carolina as Dean Smith had. And his resume at Kansas was impressive as well.

As the fastest coach to 300 wins, we know what Williams can do. So let’s sit back and see if he can continue his coaching greatness.

Billy Donovan

This one may take some work because it is likely Billy Donovan won’t ever match the success he had in 2006 and 2007 at Florida.

But with back-to-back national championships already on his resume, don’t sleep on what Donovan could do next. After all, he is one of the greatest coaches in college basketball today and might be the best. There is still more that he could accomplish.
