Record: 377-129-4

2 National Championships

12 Conference Championships (All in ACC)

Winning at Howard and West Virginia is enough. But going to Florida State, a program that had moderate success before he got there and turned into the dominant force of college football, is an amazing accomplishment.

One thing that has held true in college football is that you can turn a program with no tradition into a consistent Top 10 program, but you can’t break into the national championship-caliber club and the program that expects that every year. The three Florida schools broke into that club in the 1980s, and none of the coaches at those schools had more success than Bowden.

The Seminoles had 14 straight Top 5 finishes and went to three straight national championship games. They won two in the 1990s and were by far the most successful program in that decade.

When you take everything into account, this guy is clearly deserving of this spot. And now, Jimbo Fisher, a member of his coaching tree, has a national championship on his resume as well.

His NFL pipeline was pretty darn good as well with guys like Deion Sanders and Anquan Boldin.
