The best argument for the fact that any quarterback can win a Super Bowl with the right team is this guy, Trent Dilfer. Dilfer joins Plunkett in that conversation, but we make so many other guys immune to that. Dilfer was actually a great college football quarterback.
This guy won three conference championships during his time in college, which is a pretty impressive feat. Are we to simply say that he is a winner because he’s won everywhere he’s been? After all, that’s a metric we use for so many other quarterbacks. And Dilfer should be entitled to that criteria just like everybody else.
Hey, the guy put up darn good stats in college as well. So in the end, Dilfer gets to join the list of great quarterbacks who played mid-major football at a high level. And it can’t be ignored that he took that to the next level, doing exactly what was asked of him, and has now become one of the best broadcasters on ESPN.
