Having such an inconsistent season this year, losing your bowl game, and then losing your defensive coordinator to Texas A&M could have spelled disaster for Les Miles and the LSU Tigers. And there is indeed a little bit of pressure on with a recruiting class that is only ranked No. 10 heading into the week of National Signing Day for 2015. But anybody who follows college football should know better.
Miles had a very young team last year that will only get much better this year, and it still has a chance to vault into the Top 5 in recruiting before the week is up. There are six Rivals Top 100 players the Tigers are in the market for, two of whom are 5-star recruits according to Rivals. LSU is pursuing, and could pick up, CeCe Jefferson, the 5-star Florida defensive end, and they are in serious play for Iman Marshall, the top defensive back and No. 3 ranked player in the country. Adding those two guys alone would be amazing.
But when you have six in the Rivals Top 100, you’re bound to pick up a few to dramatically improve your class, so knowing that the class is already pretty good, fans in Baton Rouge, La. have lots to be excited about going forward.
