8. Arizona State Sun Devils

Todd Graham did not go to Arizona State to build a winning football program. He went to win championships. Say what you want about the guy’s character and things that have gone down under him, but it looks like he is seriously close to building a championship program.

For the second straight year, he has got a Top 25 class on Rivals at Arizona State, something the program had only done once since 2002. And with the way he was winning before the classes came in, imagine how he could begin to win now. That’s the first reason to be excited. The second reason is that, with this year’s National Signing Day already guaranteed to be a major success by Arizona State standards, things could be getting much better very soon.

Arizona State is in play for three 5-stars, two linebackers and a defensive end, and they are in the Top Three for two of those candidates and could be in the lead for one of them. The addition of these guys would obviously push the Sun Devils into the Top 10 for this year’s recruiting class, but even without them, their fans have tons of reasons to be excited. This is a brilliant coach leading the program who maximizes the players he has. If recruiting picks up, the program picks up.

And competing for national championships could be on the horizon if things slowly get better each year.
