3. Who Wins the Florida-Auburn Recruiting Battle

The situation among these two college football programs are very different at the moment. On one hand, you have an Auburn Tigers program that knows exactly what it is and exactly where it stands in the Gus Malzahn football system.

On the other hand, you have the Florida Gators struggling to return to relevancy with a new head coach and a recruiting class outside of the Top 50 at this point.

But National Signing Day pits these two schools against each other more than any other. Florida and Auburn are the only two schools left in the hunt for the No. 1 player in the country, Byron Cowart, and the No. 4 player in the country, Martez Ivey. Both players are from Florida.

Cowart is a 5-star defensive end, and Ivey is a 5-star offensive linemen. The addition of either would dramatically help either team. Auburn needs to get more physical, so both could help there, and Florida simply needs to get more bodies in the program, so this would obviously help tremendously.

If that was not enough, Florida and Auburn are both also in contention for CeCe Jefferson, another 5-star defensive lineman out of Florida who is also considering Alabama, LSU, and Ole Miss. Simply put, these two schools are tied together for this year’s National Signing Day.
