Rivals Class Rank: No. 26

If Al Golden is fired at the end of next year, we can point to Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015 as his final nail in the coffin. That is not because this Miami Hurricanes recruiting class will determine what happens next year.

It is because coaches can get a break if they show what the recruiting classes will bring in the future.

At Miami, you’re supposed to bring in Top 5 classes simply by closing off South Florida. Golden had plenty of excuses early with the Nevin Shapiro scandal and the self-imposed sanctions, but those excuses have run out. it is time to win, and that starts with recruiting.

The recruiting part has not happened.

Miami needed National Signing Day to desperately put together an elite class, which is already unacceptable, but their best pick-up was 3-star recruit Sheldrick Redwine, who is a local guy.

Who cares?

The No. 26 ranked recruiting class does not cut it in Coral Gables, and Golden looked bad enough last year because of that pathetic fan base that never shows up for college football games. The U used to win with the best talent in the world, or at least the best talent money can buy.

Now, they can’t even recruit the talent? This means trouble.

Maybe they couldn’t get talent without Shapiro buying it after all.
