6. Texas A&M Aggies

Rivals Class Rank: No. 10

Half of the top players, of which there were 12, in Kevin Sumlin’s recruiting class with the Texas A&M Aggies were defensive players. That number should have been up to 10 players.

The Aggies will be fine on offense, and adding 5-star wide receiver Christian Kirk, offensive linemen Keaton Sutherland, Connor Lanfear, and Trevor Elbert, running back Kendall Bussey, and another quarterback in Kyler Murray guarantees that this team is going to be just fine as long as Sumlin is around to keep his system in play.

Texas A&M is clearly building depth and will eventually be a consistent 10-win team, although in any other division they would be a 12-win team. Still, the Aggies needed more elite defensive players, as great as this class was, to help out John Chavis as he takes over his new job.

Chavis is known for zone blitzes and tons of rush packages, but Richard Moore is the only elite linebacker he was able to pick up to do that. The Aggies are going to need more in the future. This is still a start and should make this upcoming team deeper and better than any Texas A&M team before, including the teams that had Johnny Manziel, but the rest of the SEC West is still deep as well.

This Top 10 recruiting class is the No. 4 ranked class in the West alone. So Sumlin is going to need more.
