Listed at 6’6″ 300 pounds, Mason Walters was supposed to be ‘The Man’ coming out of Wolfforth Texas. Listed as the Number 2 prospect coming out of the state of Texas, number 1 at his position nationwide, and 27th in ESPN’s 150, Walters now just seems to represent the disaster that was Texas’ 2009 recruiting class.
Full of promise but nothing delivered.
Truly you can’t fault what was placed around Walters to fully call him a bust at offensive guard but more, just like his class, was expected out of him. At last check Mason Walters was working the oil fields of west Texas, far away from the gridiron promise of NFL riches. Too bad.
At his size, strength, and promise, he, along with QB Gilbert were supposed to usher in the next phase of Longhorns Football to go with the legacies of Case McCoy and Jaxon Shipley. None came to fruition and Mack Brown probably lost his job because of the failure of that 2009 class.
