Isiaha Smith (The Citadel)–Another player that was a big difference-maker as a true freshman during the 2014 season was The Citadel running back Isiaha Smith. Smith was a big addition for the Bulldogs last season, and he finished off the campaign flourishing in his first season in what was a Citadel ground game that was among the nation’s best.
Smith would end the season by finishing fourth on the team in rushing, garnering SoCon All-Freshman honors after his outstanding freshman campaign, which saw him finish the season with 591 yards and five TDs, averaging 4.5 YPC.
Down the stretch, Smith was a key component of the Bulldogs’ ground game, playing especially well in games against Mercer and Western Carolina, rushing for 111 yards on just 14 attempts against Western Carolina in a 29-15 loss, while rushing for 53 yards and a pair of scores in a hard-fought, 28-26, win over The Citadel.
