Rivals Class Rank: No. 2

Bobby Bowden’s downward slide as head coach of the Florida State Seminoles has been well-documented, and there is a very good chance this recruiting class played a huge role in helping that out.

Of the three 5-stars that were in the class, two of them, Fred Rouse and Callahan Bright, finished their careers somewhere else. That was a huge letdown for the program, as the only 5-star who somewhat panned out was Antone Smith. As a matter of fact, Smith’s play is the only thing that keeps this class from being significantly higher on this list.

There were a few huge 4-star misses as well such as Dan Foster, but having guys on there like Eugene Hayes, Kendrick Stewart, and Michael Ray Garvin that were able to be contributors also have kept this class from being much higher on the list. But at the end of the day, Bowden misses on the major superstars with this recruiting class.

And as a result of missing on those superstars, the Florida State Seminoles continued their downward spiral that had already started before this class, eventually culminating with Bowden finally having to step aside.
