4. 2010 Texas Longhorns Recruiting Class

Rivals Class Rank: No. 3

We are back to the Texas Longhorns and Mack Brown. After labeling the 2007 and 2009 recruiting classes busts, now it becomes much easier to see how 2010 was such a disaster when the 2010 recruiting class was a major bust as well. Where to begin?

The Longhorns were not so bad on the 5-star front, as Jackson Jeffcoat we a great player in the Big 12 and Jordan Hicks still played. But Hicks by all measurements was still a major bust, mainly because he was unable to stay healthy throughout his career, even if he was able to start every game under Charlie Strong in 2014.

Now, let’s visit the 4-star recruits, and it is easy to see this class as a huge bust. Taylor Bible was gone from the program pretty quickly. Reggie Wilson may have an NFL future but never managed to be anything at Texas. Greg Daniels never got to develop without a serious injury stopping him. Aaron Benson amounted to nothing. The same holds true for Bryant Jackson, and Tevin Jackson was a major disappointment.

All of these misses made for a terrible class despite the few gems that were in there, and it can be seen as the benchmark for Brown’s downfall. This failed recruiting class was with Brown until the end. And it was part of the beginning. Simply put, it is the failed connection for what put Texas in the state that it is currently in.
