8. Trae Waynes, Cornerback, Michigan State Spartans

Similar to P.J. Williams, Trae Waynes’s physical ability is not too much of a question. He is not afraid of some serious bump and run, he can accelerate and play off the ball, and he is a pretty strong guy who can tackle when needed. The only question, however, is his recovery ability, and it’s a huge one.

Waynes only had 3 interceptions this year mainly because people avoided him, but because he had to help out a weak linebacker unit at Michigan State this year, he too often got distracted. That’s when we saw him lose control of his footwork and get a little bit clumsy.

As a result, the shuttles are going to be crucial for him just like they were for Williams, and he is going to have to excel at the individual position drills.

For Waynes, the 40-times and bench press won’t mean much. The tape, shuttles, and drills will, so we will have to wait and see with him.
