6. DeVante Parker, Wide Receiver, Louisville Cardinals

Usually, a wide receiver does not have to do much at an NFL Combine because the history has shown that this is a position in which the combines can cause more misses than hits. But DeVante Parker coming out of Louisville is a special case.

For starters, receivers who rely on athleticism and the ability to go up and grab balls can indeed be measured by the combine to a point. With a 6’3″ fram, Parker’s vertical leap and 40-time will help determine just how much he can do with his size.

But more importantly, Parker missed the first seven games of the year this past year and came away with 5 touchdowns in the final five games. We are not sure yet if he is fully himself, and that is something we need to find out.

If he does not have his physical abilities fully back, then we could question just how ready for the NFL he is, similar to Gurley with Georgia. Parker never really had a chance to flourish, but he looks like a legitimate first-round candidate. This weekend’s NFL Combine could do a lot to help that.
