1. Tarvarus McFadden, Florida State, CB, 6’3’’ 198 lbs.

The number one cornerback in the class is Tarvarus McFadden, who along with top safety in the class Derwin James are headed to Tallahassee. McFadden is in the new breed of corners and has elite size for the position. McFadden has a lean physique which he will be able to improve on over the course of his career at Florida State.

The positives for McFadden are hard not to notice when seeing him. He has great hips allowing him to turn and run with smaller and quicker receivers and uses his long arms and size very well, often times making it impossible to throw the deep ball against him. McFadden also does not shy away from contact in the run game, showing a very physical nature, to go along with his football IQ and aggressiveness at the line of scrimmage where he surprisingly does not jam all that often.

The negatives are few and far between for him however as he lacks top end speed, but his size and skill make up for that allowing him to play a step or two behind but being long enough to still knock the ball away. McFadden also could improve on his tackling, but that is more nitpicking than anything else.

McFadden has the chance to be at the next level and fits right in with the new brand of corners in the NFL. He should start day one for Fisher.
