Biggest Question: Will Phillip Montgomery be able to shore up the defense and install his offense at the same time?
The Tulsa Golden Hurricanes fell to 2-10 last year with one of the worst defenses ever found in college football, so it was a little odd that they turned to an offensive coordinator to revive the program.
But Montgomery is inheriting an offense with lots of returning starters, 10 t0 be exact, and his highly advanced Baylor system that has allowed college stars to flourish could be perfect timing for the Golden Hurricanes. But he has got to shore up the defense as well.
And with two of three linebackers gone from the pathetic defense along with half the secondary, Montgomery has work to do on that end. How he manages installing his offense while preparing the defense as the new head coach this spring will play a huge role in the success of the offense this Fall.
If Montgomery can do both, Tulsa will at least show some improvement. If either falls behind this spring, the Golden Hurricanes are in serious trouble, and things are not looking up for a long time.
We will simply have to wait and see.
