Biggest Question: How will an offense with lots of returning talent respond to Chad Morris?

Well here we go again.

We thought the Southern Methodist University Mustangs had finally found their guy in June Jones to restore the program to its glory days one step at a time in its long fight to recover from the crippling death penalty inflicted on the program in the 1980s.

But Jones is gone, the program is back in disarray, and a Dabo Swinney protege is responsible for reshaping it. Chad Morris has been Clemson’s offensive coordinator and worked with guys like Tajh Boyd and Deshaun Watson.

And the good news is he’s entering a team with an experienced offense.

The bad news is that the Clemson system is complex enough to where it might take a year to learn fully, and having a bunch of returning talent that knows another system makes things tricky.

How the SMU offense responds to Morris’s system this spring will have everything to do with that the team does this Fall. That makes spring practice crucial as Morris begins to install everything, and if it does not work out, he could be in for a very long season.
