When Mama called Bear Bryant home in 1958, there is no way that even he could have known the dominance he would establish over the SEC and the college football world, even if he thought he would succeed.

After slowly rebuilding the program, it all came to fruition in 1961 with an 11-0 record and his first national championship. But Bryant did not stop there.

Bama won back to back national championships in 1964 and 1965 as well, they still had Top 10 finishes in 1962 and 1963, and they also went undefeated in 1966 despite not winning the national championship.

That is a six-year run in which the Tide went 60-5-1 with three national championships plus another undefeated season. Sure, Bryant had other impressive runs in the 1970s as he re-fashioned the Alabama football team, particularly with three national championships and eight Top 5 finishes in a nine-year span from 1971 to 1979. But it still does not touch what was done from 1961 to 1966.

And for that, here is his spot on this list, which you knew had to exist somewhere.
