Dec 27, 2014; Bronx, NY, USA; Penn State Nittany Lions quarterback Christian Hackenberg (14) drops back to pass against the Boston College Eagles during the second quarter in the 2014 Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium. The offensive line was a sieve last year, and it showed by the end of the year with Hackenberg wanting to get rid of the ball a soon as he got it in his hand for fear of being rocked by the defense. The majority of the top skill position players return with what should be another solid defense.

How far this team goes will be how well they can develop the offensive line and if Hackenberg can live up to the lofty potential of a potential No. 1 NFL Draft pick.

Penn State Nittany Lions

Last week: 7-6 record

James Franklin’s first season as coach has to be considered a huge success. The sanctions were lifted, giving the Nittany Lions their scholarships back as well as allowing them to become bowl eligible for the season.

Penn State not only qualified for a bowl game but won it in dramatic fashion. This year they will look to improve on that and the biggest reason behind their success will be how upright they can keep quarterback Christian Hackenberg.
