Skyler Howard
Quarterback, West Virginia
Another Big 12 team, another productive quarterback who must be replaced. Clint Trickett was one of the conference’s best quarterbacks in 2014; statistically, Trickett was only bested by TCU’s Trevone Boykin and Baylor’s Bryce Petty. So, Dana Holgorsen’s spring homework is daunting: find a signal caller who can match or improve upon Trickett’s 3,285 passing yards and 18 TDs.
Skyler Howard appears to be the heir apparent to the West Virginia quarterback job. In limited action during 2014, Howard’s completion percentage hovered at fifty percent, not exactly stellar numbers. However, Howard threw for eight TDs and zero interceptions during a three game stretch against Kansas State, Iowa State and the bowl game, a loss to Texas A&M.
