Offensive Line Losses Will Hurt
Every great running back recognizes it’s the guys in the trenches who open up the holes to run through. Samaje Perine definitely recognized this, and even bought pizza for his linemen in appreciation of their efforts. Unfortunately, the Sooners lose most of that experienced offensive line to graduation: four linemen must be replaced in 2015.
A program of Oklahoma’s stature always recruits well, so the cupboard isn’t exactly bare, and Bill Bedenbaugh has proven to be an adept coach and recruiter. But, even under the best of circumstances, it takes time for an offensive line to develop chemistry and begin playing well as a unit. Samaje Perine, as a classic north-to-south runner in the mold of an Earl Campbell or Emmitt Smith, may not find the going so easy, especially early in the season as the O-line gains experience.
