The guys has gone a dismal 3-9 and 2-10 each of the past two seasons, which should be unacceptable at any major program. To be fair to Rhoads, the nine-game schedule in a deep Big 12 doesn’t cut his team any breaks.

But the Cyclones need to be able to show something more than they have in the past two years, and if that does not happen this year, things will need to change. You can accept mediocrity givent the football program’s situation.

But to accept performances this bad shows a complete lack of interest in the football program, and if that happens, they just need to get id of it.

Paul Rhoads

Iowa State Cyclones, 29-46 (29-46 at Iowa State, 2-10 in 2014)

When Paul Rhoads replaced Gene Chizik at Iowa State in 2009, he inherited the seeds that Chizik laid (who could do a lot of things outside of coaching in the game) to have a decent first few seasons. That was enough for one winning season and three postseason appearances in four years, including a huge upset over the Oklahoma State Cowboys in 2011 that kept Mike Gundy’s team out of the national title game.

But since then, the Cyclones have descended back to the bottom of the Big 12 and have shown no signs of climbing back up the latter. If Rhoads is not on the hot seat, it’s ridiculous.
