2. Who will take the pressure off Cooper?

South Carolina’s offense should again rely heavily on wide receiver Pharoh Cooper. He managed to rack up over 1100 yards and 9 touchdowns last season, and he could be even better this year.

Unfortunately for Cooper, South Carolina’s opponents are also aware of his potential. South Carolina needs another wide receiver to step up and give its opponents someone else to cover besides Cooper.

It is difficult to tell who that number two receiver will be considering the only other receiver on the roster who recorded any catches in the 2014 season is Shamier Jeffery. Jeffery does not have a clear-cut advantage though, he only caught two passes for nine yards last season.

Cooper will undoubtedly shine on Saturday, but with an ongoing quarterback competition, it is unlikely that any of the other receivers’ stats will wow anyone. While catches might be rare, the coaches will still be watching the untested group to see which receiver can get open down the field. The ones who can will likely be playing plenty this fall.
