USC quarterback Cody Kessler is not backing off from the high expectations for his Trojans team in 2015 and thinks this program is officially back.

Cody Kessler returns to USC as one of the nation’s top quarterbacks after throwing 39 touchdowns to only five interceptions and could make a serious run at the Heisman Trophy in 2015.

Expectations are high for USC and Kessler is not backing off those expectations that come with playing at a prestigious national powerhouse like USC is.

Kessler thinks the Trojans did a lot of positive things in spring practice and have a lot of momentum heading into the summer and when they pick things up again in camp later this year, they’ll be ready to start working toward achieving their goals.

USC is used to being in the spotlight and picked to win the Pac-12 and national championships on a routine basis, but Kessler emphasized how important it will be for his team, especially the freshman and sophomores from the last two elite recruiting classes, to focus and put in the hard work behind the scenes to avoid falling short of expectations again.

He had USC in the top-10 last year after defeating Stanford only to get embarrassed in a loss at Boston College when they couldn’t stop them from running the ball down their throat. They were the preseason No. 1 team with Matt Barkley at quarterback but finished the year unranked and with a 7-6 record in 2012.

Kessler is mindful of the past but thinks this is a team capable of leading the Trojans back to where they belong among the national powers in college football and says USC is back.
