And while Martin’s performance in the Quick Lane Bowl was impressive on its own, Hicks picked up 202 yards on 19 carries with a touchdown.

It is almost impossible to separate these two running backs, but after taking over at the end of the year as the team won three of its final four games, they should pick up where they left off this year. And with a change at quarterback, the running game will be used a lot more this year.

Robert Martin’s explosion on the scene last year was one thing for Rutgers. Josh Hicks’s explosion was even more impressive. Like Martin, Hicks hardly played through the first three-quarters of the season. In fact, he only played one game and had six carries in it through the first nine games.

But then Hicks had an insane finish to the season. In his final four games, he rushed for 416 yards on 63 carries and two touchdowns. For the year, he had 440 yards on 69 carries, averaging more than six yards per carry.
