2. Can UAB Transfer Jordan Howard Replace Coleman?

The Hoosiers lost Tevin Coleman, who holds the single-season rushing record for Indiana at 2036 yards because of the NFL draft and replaced him with UAB transfer Jordan Howard.

Even though you will not see Jordan Howard for the rest of the spring due to a hyperextended elbow, you will see him as the starting tailback this coming fall in Bloomington. Howard did run for 1,587 yards and 15 touchdowns last year in Conference USA while finishing seventh nationally with 132.3 yards per game.

Can Howard duplicate those numbers in the Big Ten?

That is the question on every Hoosier fans mind… it would be unfair to expect Howard to replicate Coleman’s numbers since the passing game should be more prevalent this season, thanks to a healthy Nate Sudfeld.

Howard became Coach Wilson number 1 target after Coleman announced he was going to the NFL and he should be a nice fit for the Indiana offense. UAB cut its football team at the end of the 2014 season due to lack of funds to field a competitive team, which gave Howard the ability to play for another school in 2015.
