Who takes the lead at quarterback?

The quarterback situation for Louisville could not be more jumbled. Will Gardner and Reggie Bonnafon started at different times last season, and both made cases to be starters going into this year. But Gardner is not playing this spring.

Meanwhile, Kyle Bolin, who also played last year some, is in the mix as well. And Tyler Ferguson is a transfer added to the mix.

Gardner brings the experience, Bonnafon brings the dual-threat, Bolin brings potential, and Ferguson brings the big-arm in the form of Ryan Mallett that Petrino loves.

So with Gardner out and Bonnafon in the lead, how he performs in this spring game will be a big deal. Seeing how all three quarterbacks perform is important, but that is especially true of Bonnafon since.

Generally, Petrino likes strong-armed pocket passers, so it’s kind of interesting for Bonnafon to be a frontrunner at this point. This spring game could help show why.

How they all perform could have a huge impact on who the starter is.

Petrino said he is in no rush to name a starter, so it is not like this spring game will give away anything too significant this early, but it will definitely show how things are progressing along.
