Ohio State is one of the deepest teams in college football

Based on Urban Meyer’s recruiting and youth in the program, we already knew that the Ohio State Buckeyes had one of the deepest teams in the country. That was put on display even more so on Saturday than ever before.

For a spring game to be a 17-14 finish, the first and second team players in their both showed their usefulness. And this came without many of the other stars playing.

Eight receivers all played significant roles in the game, the Scarlet team had defensive standouts all over the field, and Meyer gave multiple people shots at returning kicks.

The only question might be the depth at running back. We know about Ezekiel Elliott, but there was really nobody else to stand out at the position on Saturday. Of course, there is no reason to read too much into that. Both offenses threw the ball almost the entire game, and the defense is pretty deep as well.

With so many returning starters and a loaded recruiting class, you know you have very few things to worry about on your second team when you have a concern over which potential Heisman candidate will start at quarterback.
