The Wide Receivers Will Improve
LSU’s youth movement at wide receiver had its growing pains during 2014. No matter how talented a player is, there is a steep learning curve from high school to college, especially for wide receivers. The underwhelming 2014 performance of LSU’s wide receivers can be attributed to the learning process everyone must go through, even five-star recruits like Malachi Dupre.
Well, apparently some intense learning has been going on, because the wideouts were spectacular during Saturday’s spring game. Junior Travin Dural and sophomore Malachi Dupre combined to catch eight passes for 239 yards and four scores.
Dupre’s diving catch and score, courtesy of a well-placed 35 yard Brandon Harris bomb wowed the crowd and showed what this kid can do. And, sophomore D.J. Clark hauled in two passes for 53 yards. All in all, not a bad outing by the Tigers receiving corps.
